By Xavier Mohr, SLReports.net As most of you know, we recently selected Cash Yiyuan as CEO of SL Reports (CapEx: SLR). I won't repeat the entire thing here, but please feel free to read it if you haven't already. Importantly, for our readers I should note that there will be little negative change in the content you see here. In addition to new content providers you will see floating around SLR, you will also see a familiar old face... me. I do not intend to fully quit writing for SL Reports, and in fact I feel as if decreased business responsibilities might allow me to do so more in-depth. Through January 15th, I hope to be generating at least one post a day at this site... as scheduling and general 'newsiness' permits. Beyond that, my participation will vary depending on my own availability. I have committed to management to retain my login and make at least one SL post per week... whether I will do more than that is up in the air. In my Second Life profile, I have included a message stating that I no longer log into the grid regularly. While it might be logical for you to assume by this that I have quit Second Life, it is far from the truth. The fact is, the message is a mere solidification of what I have have been doing already... logging in once or twice or week. For the time being, I don't see my involvement falling below that. With great new content providers, though, expect only good things to come here at SL Reports. We appreciate your loyalty and readership, and will be rewarding it with enhanced news coverage in the months to come. Stay tuned to SLReports.net.

By Xavier Mohr, SLReports.net An Editorial A recent thread on a random Second Life forum that I shall not name got me thinking about human differences, discrimination, and perception of such things. We all have our differences. There's no doubt about it. Some of us are Americans, some are Europeans, some are Asians. Some of us are Christians, Muslims, or Athiests. Some of us are black, or white, or brown... gay, straight, or bisexual... men or women. We're all different, but we're also human. I think former U.S. President Bill Clinton said it best in his speech at Harvard University's 2007 Class Day. Genetically, all humans are roughly 99.9% the same. Our differences in stature, color, mental capacity, all come from one tenth of one percent. Yet, as Pres. Clinton points out, the majority of social problems on our great planet are caused when we spend more time arguing about our 0.1% differences than we do celebrating our common humanity. In Second Life financial markets in particular, we all seem to find great pleasure in pointing out each other's differences in an effort to better our own public positions, rather than focusing on our common goals. It's particularly sad when we see real-life differences such as race, gender, or sexual preference brought into this environment... a place where we can't even SEE EACH OTHER... a place where most of us will never even interact with each other in real life – the one place where these differences can legitimately matter a SMALL FRACTION of the time... all in an effort to garner sympathy or bash a colleague who may have a difference of opinion.

It has been a while since I have "blogged" anything here, and I figure there's no better time to do that than right now, to not only wish you the happiest of holiday seasons, but to also test-drive SLR's new template work in progress. The holiday seasons are a strange time for me. I have to admit, I often end up ranting about Christmas more often than I end up praising it. The fact is, Christmas is not really my favorite holiday and often just causes a good deal of stress for me. That being said, I realize that Christmas is a very emotional, religious time of year for many. Please accept my holiday greetings from SL Reports, from our family to yours, this holiest of seasons. I've personally not been up to a heck of a whole lot lately. I have been blogging randomly about real-life issues... hoping one of my unused domains will become a great self-sustaining outlet for my thoughts. Nothing much going on in Second Life... at all. We have made a decision for the SL Reports CEO replacement, just to update you. However, I have not moved towards making this final right now. I am thinking at this point that it will be after Christmas, before the new year. This not only allows everyone some breathing room during a busy time of year, but it also allows me to sit back and oversee the SLR redesign and get everything set back up before a new CEO moves in. To be honest, a lot of the delay has been purely on my end. I have been caught up and busy in random things, as has everyone else. Not much effort has been made to move into the CEO replacement quickly. A lot of it is the time of year, again. But hey, I've ran this company for almost a year now... so I figure a week or two more won't kill me. Real-life work continues as usual. It's Monday, which means my sister – whose small urban weekly newspaper does not boast an in-house graphic artist (imagine that) – has sent me a slew of ads to build before her paper goes to press this afternoon. I also have two ads at this point to build for SL Reports, several contracted jobs due "ASAP" as always, and a number of personal projects which have unfortunately taken a backburner to more important things. As The Bangles would say, "It's just another Manic Monday." I'll troll the usual sources later today for some good Second Life news for SLR, but until then... stay warm, stay level-headed, and don't crash too hard when your family pulls the plug on SL and tells you to get your ass in the kitchen to help make Christmas cookies! Later, Xavier Mohr

A Letter from Xavier Mohr, CEO - SLReports.net Dear SLReports.net Readers: I would like to take this last opportunity of the day to bring up a very important matter regarding the Second Life media community. My very dear friend Marvel Ousley made official today via an email what she had told me privately several days ago – that she was retiring from SLNN.com. For 14 months, SLNN.com has provided the Second Life community with fabulous AP Style journalism, mostly because of the tireless - frequently stressful - effort put forth by Marvel. In her time at SLNN, the organization often "scooped" real life media in important Second Life news matters. She truly has much to be proud of in all she has accomplished. I understand that Marvel, much like me, has real-life matters she needs to attend to... matters that trump anything involved in Second Life. All I can say is that personally I have known Marvel for a quite some time in SL terms. She will be sorely missed. Marvel and SLNN.com have been great friends of SL Reports and JT Financial for a very long time. On behalf of both organizations I would like to wish her best of luck in her future endeavors. Sincerely, Xavier Mohr, CEO SLReports.net

An Editorial A recent post on a random blog started me thinking on the subject of class. No, I'm not talking about socioeconomic status or any sort of caste system, I'm talking about the personal attribute that I'm proud to say many of you boast, and am ashamed to say that some people do not. As I use the word here, as defined by Oxford American: class |klas| adjective [ attrib. ] informal showing stylish excellence : he's a class player
Second Life is not my first ball game in the realm of social media, or interactive communications. Many of you know that in the AOL heyday I was known as Host PCCL Camel, Host LFST Camel, and Host News Camel... a community leader under the watchful guidance of America Online Communities Incorporated (ACI). I have also served in the past as forum and chat moderator, and editor, for various other online communities. It's through my experience working on the Internet that I have learned one thing: there's no better place to judge exactly how much "class" someone has than right here on the Internet. Here's why...

By Xavier Mohr, CEO SLReports.net If you are not yet aware, I have resigned as CEO of SL Reports effective January 1, 2008. No, I have not had a "falling-out" with management or anything scrumptious like that for you to eat up, it's just that my time here has come and passed, and I am man enough to know when to step back and let someone else take over.
There are a lot of reasons for this - none of them just massive. You can read about it in the full letter. More than anything though, it was just several smaller reasons that all "piled up" to make me think that this was the right thing to do at this time. A lot of it comes down to time, and scheduling. I'm not the carefree single guy I once was. There are a lot of things that I should be doing in RL, but have put off time and again for the sake of SLR.
