By Xavier Mohr, Publisher SLReports.net I have held off saying anything about Jasper Tizzy and 'The Bank' until now. It seems in SL these days, jumping to conclusions has become a rather popular sport. The rumors, though, about Jasper Tizzy seem to be running out of control. Jasper is saying one thing, VSTEX.net is saying another, and most investors have individual theories all their own. Rumors have been going at full speed the past few days. Some customers of Tizzy's 'The Bank' are unable to withdraw funds. Rumors that land is being sold, buildings disappearing on Countless Galaxies sims are becoming viral in the way they spread through the financial community of Second Life. All I can say is two nights ago, when the problems with Bank ATMs began, I received an instant message from Jasper Tizzy explaining the situation. Jasper informed me that 'The Bank' was "not bankrupt."
According to Tizzy, he is away from home - in the United Kingdom on real-life business. Bank ATMs, he says, are running out of memory and need to be reset.
What was unsaid, assumed by me alone based on our conversation, is that Tizzy is not in a position at this point where he can reset them. Of course I know that scripted objects can run out of memory. But I am also not a scripter. I don't know if it is plausible or not for all the ATMs to 'run out of memory' on the same day. Perhaps it could be a connectivity issue, or a legitimate cash reserve issue. AVC share prices are low, he says, because a business deal has gone awry (possibly Lucia?)... and a new partner has share-dumped approximately 4,000,000 shares of the company. All of this, however, directly conflicts with what is being said by VSTEX.net. "Jasper Tizzy is leaving Second Life and selling out [his] business. Trading on AVC, CGI, and KFM is halted until the transfer to the new owners is done," said an announcement at the exchange website (http://vstex.net/?p=103&id=7 ). So what's the real story? Does anyone know? The Rock Insurance has halted issuance of new certificates for The Bank, but has not stated a clear reason aside from "ATMs not working." I personally tried deposits and withdrawals up to L$1,000 and they went through without issue. Another friend and colleague, however, reported at the same time that L$5,000 withdrawals were not being processed. Could this be a simple ATM memory or connectivity issue, happening at a point where Tizzy is not able to fix the problem... coinciding with an unrelated business deal gone bad? Is Tizzy really leaving SL? As seems to be the case with a lot of Jasper's dealings, all of this is about as transparent as a brick wall. I note, however, that Jasper is notoriously honest with customers, always willing to help out those in need. Always willing to confront the tough questions head-on when they are asked to him. Maybe he will surprise us. Only time will tell. Stay tuned to SLReports.net for more information.
