Going Going Gone BC Parcel Auctioned for US 950 By SL Hak So day 1 of the LL Bay City auction is over. Trading has been brisk with some spectacular bids. First it must be emphasized that Bay City Docklands which went under the hammer today is at the outer edge of the current region and not considered by many as a prime location within Bay City. Some of the lots are located on the main road through the region, but none are near the highly valued LL attractions. The highest bid by a mile was a little parcel called “2ee plus”, a flat mature parcel, which is 1344m with 614 prims and sold for L$253k, this makes it L$188 per Sq M, a whopping US$950. Yep thats correct US Dollars!
After the auction a large crowd gathered at the parcel including old timers like Bino Arbuckle, Timeless Prototype and estate owner Bart Heart. The little event even attracted a Linden or two, Guy Linden not staying long when a couple of questions starting flying his way, maybe he just visited to get his name in the papers. There was a fair bit of cynicism from the gathered masses with howls of laughter when a giant garish avatar of a for sale sign positioned itself neatly in the middle of the parcel, it spun only occasionally and thankfully didn't bombard onlookers with landmarks and triple xxx rated notecards. So who bought the parcel, nanapori Oh is the lucky owner and it appears he doesn't even want to keep it, a little hunting identifies nanapori as the owner of New Japan Trading Co. Ltd which trades in Mainland owns the Modern Times Sim and some shopping malls. Nanapori wasted no time by placing the sim up for sale, to the disappointment of Timeless Prototype who had been outbid by nanapori. Timeless was bidding on behalf of Timeless Gadget Shop and was unable to increase his US$ balance at the crucial moment, denying him of the prime location within Docklands. Timeless may not buy another parcel in the Bay City region unless he finds a comparable parcel, which he is finding a difficult task, this is a shame as Timeless appeared to have ambitious plans to build an impressive new store for his products. This would surely have been a welcomed addition as opposed to an empty sim being flipped. To see what Timeless has to offer you can visit one of his shops HERE. So what of the rest of the auctions and will these prices hold up. The answer I believe is a resounding yes, in my view there are better sims to come with more desirable locations. I can see these reaching similar prices, whether they will hold their value in the long term is another question entirely, maybe the burst of notoriety that owners are seeking will be sufficient to warrant the astronomical fees paid.
