FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR STAR DIRECTS HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL AT NATE HOLDEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN SUPPORT OF ARTS & EDUCATION AT CITY HONORS
In light of the recent budget cuts, High School Principal, Thelma Brown, and her students of CITY HONORS HIGH , are taking on the vision to raise the funds that
they vitally need to sustaing their school's arts and educational programs in a unique and innovative way.
Ms. Brown is partnering with Vernee Watson, Will Smith's mom on FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR, to make a difference with kids this 4th of July weekend in an extraordinary way.
A New Jersey native, Watson is working with Brown to direct the summer production of high school musical, A HOLE IN THE WALL, featuring a cast of students from CITY HONORS HIGH SCHOOL at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles on Saturday July 5th and Sunday July 6th.
In a grass roots community effort , the performances will Serve to fundraise for arts and education programs at CITY HONORS HIGH SCHOOL.
Acknowledged as one of the top schools in the nation by US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, City Honors is a unique high school with programs that provide students with the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma and an AA degree at the same time.
What is noteworthy is that in spite of the school functioning without a library or computers, students at City Honors continue to excel as high academic achievers in the city of Inglewood. This fundraiser is a vehicle that Watson, the kids, and community are implementing on their own to try and make a difference for the upcoming school year. The school's wish list includes computers and a library for the kids to have access to that will support their academic studies as other top schools have. The driving force behind the academic success of the students is attributed to the full support base given by the school's principal, Thelma Brown, who the students are endeared to.
